Hi, I’m Laura!
Laura is a full-time mom and lifelong artist based out of Jackson, TN. Moving to Tennessee from Wisconsin in 2019, at the age of 19, she began working in memory care at an assisted living facility when the pandemic hit only a short few months later. She felt isolated and depressed, starting a 5 year artists block. In this time she’d hold many odd jobs such as becoming a lineman, working in a fiberglass factory, and sign spinning in Florida for 2 weeks. Though these jobs seem odd for a young woman to hold they proved to Laura that she was capable of anything if she worked hard enough and kept a positive outlook. Still always looking at the world through an artists’ eye, Laura felt a piece of herself missing without art. When she met her wonderful partner and had their beautiful daughter she was overwhelmed with inspiration. She knew she needed to follow her lifelong calling of pursuing art as a career and show her daughter the path to true happiness in life through full authenticity. Her art is naturalistic and autobiographical, serving as a visual record of her life. Processing neglect/abuse, personal exploration, motherhood, consumerism, and current events through surreal line drawings, repurposed art with untraditional mediums (eyeshadow, vinyl records, etc.), collages, and dynamic composition, Laura’s art aims to invoke hope and childlike wonder.
